William Wheeler Reese, son of Solomon Reese and his first wife, was born 1816 on Duck
River in Maury Co., Tennessee. He married Frances J. Halbert, daughter of
Martin and Susan (Poindexter) Halbert, on 19 July 1838 in Lincoln Co., TN.
Frances J. Halbert was born in 1816 in Madison Co., AL and died 10 Feb 1896.
She is buried in the Coop-Prairie Cemetery in Mansfield, Arkansas next to her husband
William W. Reese who died a few months later on 24 May 1896.

reveals the following information about William W. and Frances J. Reese:
His
[John’s] parents, William W. and Frances J. (Halbert) Reese, were
born on Duck River, Maury County, Middle Tenn., and Madison County,
Ala., respectively, and were married and made their home in the former
State until 1839, at which time they immigrated to Arkansas, locating
on a tract of land in Cove Creek Township, Washington County,
[Ark] and still make Washington County their home.

In September of 1844, William W. Reese of Washington County, Arkansas appointed his brother-in-law Mark H. Halbert to act on his behalf in his interests in his father Solomon's estate.

During the Civil War, William Reese and family removed
to Missouri and probably did not return until after the war. Their son John
Reese joined them in Missouri after his discharge at the end of the war. Shortly
after, they returned to Washington Co., AR where they remained until the 1890s.

In the 1890s, William W. and Frances J (Halbert) Reese removed to Sebastian Co., AR near their daughter Susan P. (Reese) Hodges Duncan, wife of Isaac Duncan. When their grandson Samuel A. Hodges built a new house, he had them move into his old house.
